China Southern Airlines' second Airbus A380 landed at Beijing Capital International Airport at 10:40 a.m. on Dec. 18. The second superjumbo has started flying between Beijing and Shanghai from Dec. 19, marking the aircraft's first domestic service.

The airfare will rise by 800 yuan each way for the A380's luxury first-class suites on the Beijing-Shanghai route and 1,190 yuan, or about 25% on the Beijing-Guangzhou route starting from January 2012, as the luxury first-class suites are very popular among passengers and have all sold out since the superjumbo was put into domestic service on October 17.

The 8 luxury first-class suites and 70 flat-bed business-class seats have been full almost every day for the past two months. The occupancy rate of the airline's A380 flight averages 92%, taking into account the 428 economy seats, said Tan Wangeng, President of China Southern Airlines.

As there are too many passengers who want to experience flying on the A380, the tickets for the A380 flights are always sold at full price. As demand exceeds supply, the ticket fares will raise from 3,160 yuan to 3,960 yuan for the luxury first-class suites on the Beijing-Shanghai routes and from 4,769 yuan to 5,950 yuan on the Beijing-Guangzhou route.

The arrival of the second superjumbo adds the carrier's A380 flights to 6 currently.

China Southern, the nation's biggest domestic airlines, has ordered five Airbus A380s, with two delivered this year. The Guangzhou-based carrier plans to put its superjumbo on international routes to Europe, America, and Australia after the delivery of the third one in February or March next year.
